Day 1
Having made very good time on the journey to Heathrow Airport it was a real shame that the plane arrived late and was then subject a further delay with 51 eager tourists sat patiently onboard. The flight on a very new Airbus was uneventful; some slept a lot, while some watched a number of films from an excellent election of new releases & classics.
On arrival (3½ hours later than scheduled) we quickly passed through passport control & customs to be met by our South African representative who helped us transfer to our very smart coach and our pleasant driver Samson.
Prior to meeting their host families the group spent a relaxing couple of hours in the smart East Rand Mall. Both squads were meet by their host families @ CBC Boksburg, while waiting for everyone to be introduced and to finalise arrangements it was wonderful to see the students from both Schools introducing themselves, kicking a football about and even singing “Waka Waka The Time for Africa”. Once the group had all dispersed the staff also retired to their hotel for a well deserved rest.
